    Wechsler celebration this weekend

To celebrate the history of the Wechsler School, the Wechsler Foundation is inviting everyone to a weekend filled with fun and entertainment. “This weekend represents the celebration and bringing the community together, particularly those who are alumni of the school. Wechsler Foundation looks to rebuild Wechsler School roof

Renovations continue at the historic Wechsler School in Meridian. “We’re trying to restore the school. The significance of the school is that the original portion was built in 1892. Wechsler Foundation kicks off fundraiser to rebuild school

The Wechsler School is on its way to becoming the community hub it once was. On Saturday, the Wechsler Foundation kicked off a capital campaign to rebuild the school. “The Mississippi Department of archives and history has granted us almost $86,000. We are to match with approximately $20,000. We’re well on our way to raising that $20,000 with these capital campaigns that we’re now launching,” said Greg Moore, a member of the Wechsler Foundation. Wechsler Foundation hosts awareness day to restore building

The Wechsler School, one of the remaining buildings apart of Meridian’s black history, stands in disrepair. But the Wechsler foundation hopes to raise support for its restoration this Saturday during Wechsler Awareness Day. “Our primary goal is to restore this building and this entire property to its former glory. It was a hub of activity including entertainment and theater arts. We have plans to make it an educational center as well as a resource for individuals who may h
