One woman dead after colliding with train

Yesterday before noon the Lauderdale county sheriff's department responded to a collision involving a car and a train off of highway 11 across from key field.

Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says one person is dead following the accident.

"It was reported through the 911 center of a one-vehicle crash involving a vehicle and a train. It occurred at entrance of the south industrial complex on highway 11 south. The sheriff's department, police department, and metro all responded, " Calhoun said.

Lauderdale county coroner Clayton Cobler told us later today that the victim of the collision is 69-year-old Essie Dean.
