New director for Wesley House

Wesley House community center has a new leader in charge.

Elizabeth Graham was recently named the center’s executive director.

“I just appreciate the warm welcome that I’ve had here in meridian. It’s such a great city and everyone has been so wonderful. Everyone here at Wesley House have just made me feel so at home already. I feel like I’ve been here a year instead of a week,” Graham said.

The former director of operations of the United Methodist committee on relief in Baldwin, Louisiana, graham started the position at Wesley House last week. She says that the center’s mission inspired her to apply for the job.

“I’m a United Methodist deaconess, and that is a lay person who works in the area of love, service, and justice," She said. "So when i heard about the position being open, I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to serve out my calling.”

Wesley House strives to break the cycle of poverty and abuse by offering services to those who are underprivileged, neglected, and abused.

Graham says that her goal is to continue Wesley house’s mission of service to the community.

“Really I’m looking to make connections with the community, to get out and meet people, find out what things are needed in the area. I don’t want use to duplicate services. Really, where do we fit in, where can we expand the mission that we already have, to help out in meridian and the surrounding area," Graham added.
