United Way of Neshoba County Merges with East Mississippi Branch

United Way of East Mississippi and Neshoba County have merged together to promote a regional approach to solving East Mississippi’s most critical problems.

“We hope to be able to expand our ability to enhance the lives, reach out and touch more people, within the whole area of Neshoba County, Lauderdale County, and East Mississippi areas,” said Eddie Kelly, board chairman of United Way of East Mississippi.

For the past few years, United Way of Neshoba County has had some problems with reaching some of its organizational goals. That’s why the organization has decided to merge with United Way of East Mississippi.

“It seems like they’ve been successful with new programs and a new approach to fundraising,” said Brent Gray, board chairman of United Way of Neshoba County.

Gray attributed the organization’s success to its administrative structure.

“United Way of East Mississippi has the resources of full time personnel, instead of just using volunteers or working part time. Everybody is so busy now days that the full time employee approach like here at United Way of East Mississippi seems to be successful, where we were not being successful.”

He added that the merger is already making a positive impact in Neshoba County.

“We’ve started this imagination library program that has really gotten our community excited about united away again.”
