Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church hosts fall festival

Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church invites the community to its annual Fall Fest and Catfish Feast. It will take place at the church today from 9 to 2 pm.

“I hope it’s going to be a big year this year. I hope everybody is hungry today and wants to come out and celebrate with us,” said Jenny Lynn Taylor, the fall fest chairman.

Many items will be on sale, including homemade crafts and baked goods like delicious tea cakes.

“We have jams and jellies and pepper sauces. We’re going to have catfish from the Delta. It’s brought down fresh. We have hush puppies, coleslaw, french fries, and more things are coming in today. We’ll have plenty for everybody,” said Taylor.

Raffle tickets for quilts are $1 and fish plates are $8. The church will donate a percentage of the

proceeds to four charities.

“Two are to families that are in need. They’ve had children that have special needs. One has heart

problems. The other family just has medical problems,” said Taylor.

Donations will also go towards animal rescue and the Free Clinic of Meridian. Taylor explained that the event will be a great opportunity for fellowship.

“These days are getting so tough, and we just need to reach out to each other. This church is love. We love everybody. You can ask anybody that’s ever been here or ever come to our festivals. They know we want to reach out to others.”
