Restaurant-goers in Meridian now have a new option. Newk’s Eatery is slated to open soon.
“We’re excited to be in Meridian. Meridian hasn’t gotten a Newk’s yet, and they’re everywhere, all over Mississippi. So, we need one here,” said Sonya Jackson, who own’s the franchise.
Located in Meridian Crossroads, the restaurant will open its doors starting November 21st.
“We have pizzas, chef-inspired soups. We have huge salads that are amazing, and then sandwiches on fresh baked bread,” said Jackson.
The restaurant hopes to serve not only food, but also the community.
“We love to partner with schools. We love to sponsor athletic teams. I’ve already met with Lauderdale county schools and the Meridian Public Schools to let them know about the opportunities we have to support their schools. I think we’re going to do some really great things here,” said Debbie Mar, the sales and marketing director.
To celebrate its opening, Newk’s Eatery is having a picnic today during Earth’s Bounty.
“Chicken salad, turkey, club sandwiches. We’re going to bring some of our side items, lots of food to sample. But you have to get here early because I have a feeling we’re going to have a pretty big turnout,” said Jackson.
The picnic will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
