Newk’s Eatery located in Meridian Crossroads is now open for business.
“Now people don’t have to travel to Jackson or Flowood or Gulfport or South Haven. They can come to Newk’s right here in Meridian. It’s a big restaurant and we’re glad to have it. A lot of people have been excited about it coming here for years, and it’s finally here,” said Mayor Percy Bland.
Meridian residents were invited to today’s grand opening. “I frequent the Newk’s in Flowood all the time because I have family over that way. Now I’m excited that we can just go any time we get ready for it,” said Julie Boles.
“It’s a great location. We needed a place like this in this area. It’s a beautiful facility, and everybody here is just so friendly and nice,” said Steve Reetz.
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, Meridian residents went inside for a delicious bite to eat.
“Every day we have toasted sandwiches, California style pizzas, fresh tossed salads, great soups, wonderful cakes,” Todd Jackson, the owner of the franchise.
He added that the restaurant is ready to serve the community.
“We’re excited for everybody to come out and try us. We’re thankful for the public support. We look forward to doing a great job for everybody.”
