2017 is almost here and local churches are ready to celebrate.
“December 31st is our watch night service starting at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. We will be praising and worshiping and honoring God for all that he has done in our lives and what he will continue to do in our lives,” said Deridre Elkins, the public relations chair at Agape Storehouse Apostolic Church.
“6 p.m. tomorrow night we will like to get together and testify and tell all about the goodness of God through the year and make plans for next year. We also do a time of food and fellowship and we also usually show a film that will be family oriented,” said Greg Mangum, the pastor of Old Paths Baptist Church.
All churches welcome the community to come and join in the fun.
“There are no denominational barriers, no racial barriers. We’re just going to have church at 12 o’clock tomorrow. If you want to come out and be a part of a worship experience, I promise you that’s what it’s going to be a worship experience,” said Odell Hopkins, the pastor of West Mt Moriah Baptist Church.
The church leaders explain that focusing on God is a great way to ring in the new year.
“We are preparing for the coming of the Lord. What better way is to come on out and be a part of this service, so you can get to know who God really is, as well as your purpose and destiny that God has for you,” said Elkins.
“Scriptures says forgetting those things which are behind me and pressing towards the mark of the high called. We’ve done all we could in 2016, but we’ve got some grand things we want to do and that God has promised us he will allow us to do in 2017,” said Hopkins.
“Putting God first for the next year should be a goal for everyone. That’s what we want to encourage all Christians to do this year. I believe that as we Christians come together and put God first that we can change our nation and our world,” said Mangum.
