Adult day care center opens
An adult day care center has opened in Meridian. It’s called New Beginnings Adult Day Care Center #2 and is for adults who are disabled or are isolated and can no longer drive. The center is located on 69th street. The ribbon cutting ceremony was yesterday.
“The residents are picked up at their homes. They come to the facility where there are safe and organized activities for them to do. They are here approximately four hours. There’s devotion, creative art, and other fun activities. They have a light breakfast, light lunch, then they will return to their homes,” said Community Educator Ruth Sanders.
The adult day care center has a partner center located in Philadelphia. The one here in Meridian is opened Monday through Friday. Services are paid for by Medicaid waivers, private insurance, or personal pay. To be admitted, residents must be at least 21 years old, and must be assessed by an RN.
