Neighborhood Walmart now open

The world’s largest retailer has opened a new Walmart Neighborhood Market on Highway 39 North.
“This concept is for convenient, in-and-out, quick shopping. With the two super centers in town and the high volumes they are, this will relieve traffic flow there. It’s all about the local, neighborhood feel,” said Nathan Gragg, the store manager.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was early this morning. The store presented $500 checks to
community organization.
“Every store does it. We’re trying to give back to local community organizations because what is a part of the community. We like to help out when we can,” said Gragg.
The store also recognized some of its employees.
“I’ve been at Walmart for 23 years. It’s a great place to work for and great associates. Really, it’s a nice place to work for. It had to be for me to stay here 23 years,” said Dianne Davis.
Residents now have another option when it comes to shopping for groceries.
“It should also give us a better competition and price point on the food and other things they sell here in this store,” said Mayor Percy Bland.
“I’m excited. When we go out of town we see them, but we never get to stop. Now I get to see what it’s about,” said Tramika Monroe.
“I don’t stay too far out. It’s easier where I don’t have to be traveling. It’s nice. I really like this Walmart,” said Latocia King.
“It’s right across the street from where my daughter stays, so I’m going to enjoy this,” said Angela Campbell.
The neighborhood Walmart will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to midnight.
