Lineman appreciation day!

It’s lineman appreciation day, and Mississippi power came out to Popular Springs elementary school. to show the students what it means, to be a power lineman.

Hayley Shirley the Poplar Springs elementary guidance counselor says, “we had a group of people from mississippi power come in and meet with our 5th graders, telling them what they need to do to prepare for a job as a lineman, and giving them an idea of their typical day.”

The linemen met with students in the auditorium, where they took questions from the audience.

Shirley says that “at Popular Springs this year we focused on children learning about careers, and what education is required for different jobs.”

The linemen showed the students the equipment they work with on a daily basis, and demonstrated their trucks bucket lift leaving the students with another option as a career choice.
