Citizens National Bank teaches kids to save money

Yesterday, kindergarteners at Northeast Elementary School were told to hold on to their pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
“It’s never too early to start saving, so we like to come out early and teach them,” said Kristi Tew, a branch manager at Citizens National Bank.
It was National Teach Children to Save Day, and managers at Citizens National Bank went to different schools to do just that.
“Today we’re going to do Sam’s Silly Saving Spots. Sam is a little boy that hides his money in different places and he loses it,” said Tew.
After listening to the story, kindergarteners learned about safe places and not so safe places to save their money. Tew told them that the bank is the best place to save money.
She explained why kids should start saving now.
“When you want to buy something, and I’m sure they have some things they want to buy, it’s always important to save for things you want to buy or emergency purposes.”
