Click it or Tick-it!
Today starts the click it or ticket initiative, where you must buckle up, because it’s the law.
“We are here today to make the public aware of our click it or tick-it campaign. Which begins today Monday May 22 and runs through June 4th,” says police lieutenant Rita Jack.
Local law enforcement will be increasing patrolling, as the click it or ticket initiative will be enforced heavily, throughout the next few weeks.
“We have these particular campaigns, click it or tick it, surrounding Memorial Day. In doing so, we want to bring awareness to our public, to make sure that they buckle up before they drive off.”
She Goes on to say that the majority of traffic fatalities from 2015 were due to unbuckled motorists.
“We’ve had approximately, 680 deaths. We’ve had over 300 that have been due to unrestrained occupants”
The sole purpose of the initiative is to save lives and spread awareness.
“I want to bring about to the public, to make sure that they understand, what we are here for is to remind the public to buckle up.”
She says it’s not about citations, raising money, or overtime.
“It’s about us doing what we need to do to save lives.”
