Mayor’s Cup golf scramble this weekend

The Mayor’s Cup golf scramble is back and takes place this Saturday at Lakeview Golf Course.
“We all want to help someone that’s less fortunate than us. This is a way to give back to the community and help people out,” said James Dillard, the event coordinator.
The Mayor’s Cup is a charity fundraiser, and last year it raised $5,000, which was donated to Care Lodge.
“This year I want to double that. I know we can do it,” said Dillard.
This year all proceeds will go towards the Lupus Foundation.
“Lupus is a quiet disease. You can have it and you don’t know you have it. You can’t look at a person and say they have lupus. All of our money raised will be to help them get blood tests and things like that,” said Dillard.
Entry fees are $40 per person and $150 per sponsorship. There will be food and beverages.
Mayor Percy Bland is playing in the tournament.
“Come out and see what kind of game he got. He can play. He has a good game,” said Dillard.
