Voting Registration.

June the 6th marks election day right here in Meridian. And before you show up to vote, the machines have to be calibrated.

Jeff Tate says, “We will be testing all the machines that will be used in the June 6th election.”

He goes on to say that his job is to make sure that the voting process goes off without a hitch.

“Basically, what we are doing is we are making sure that the screens will be calibrated. When a voter goes to touch a candidate’s name, that candidate gets marked. We want to make sure that if you check a candidate’s name accidentally you can uncheck them. It’s just a lot of little different things that if you check them now, you make sure everything is good to go, it makes for a much smoother election day.”

Also, residents should check their calendars because if they are not free to vote on June 6th in person, absentee ballots are currently available at the city hall.

“If you are over the age of 65. If you work a job from 7am to 7pm. If you’re a student. We encourage you to come on down now, before the lines start getting longer. City hall, first floor, where some ladies will be more than happy to help you out voting absentee.”

The city hall is open throughout the week. And also, this Saturdays, from 8am to 12 noon.
