Butler Police Chief Says Goodbye.

Butler city employees had a surprise going away party, for Chief Huckabe.

Chief Huckabe says, “I took a job with the Calhoun county sheriff’s department. And that’s where I was originally from before I moved down here. And, it’s just, been wanting to go back home. I finally got the opportunity and that’s what I’m going to do.”

Chief Huckeba spent 22 years with the city of Butler police department. But now he says it’s time to go to Calhoun county, to be with his family.

“I’m actually looking forward to it. I’m never been one that’s been power Hungary or had to, be in charge. So, I’m actually looking forward to it. Just getting back out and working like I like to do.”

Derek Thorne will be the new police chief in Butler. And he is happy to pick things up, where Huckeba left off.

“I’m going to try to leave things as close as how they were. They’ve been running good. Not much need to change up a good thing.”
