Crowdfunding Initiative for Libby Hankins
The University of West Alabama has launched a crowdfunding initiative for the endowment of a memorial scholarship honoring former cheerleader and student leader Libby Hankins. Once established, the scholarship will recognize students who demonstrate the leadership, commitment, and service to others shown by Hankins throughout her lifetime battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
The fundraising initiative will help secure an endowment for the Libby Hankins Distinguished Student Scholarship. Contributions to the scholarship fund are tax deductible. Supporters can make a one-time gift or pledge to give with recurring payments. Organizers hope to reach the goal of $26,000 and be able to present the inaugural award in spring 2018.
Preference will be given to recipients whose work and leadership reflect that of Hankins, a former cheerleading captain, homecoming queen, student ambassador, orientation leader, and member of the UWA greek community.
The scholarship award is intended for students who have reached a high level of involvement at UWA, show strong commitment to leadership and fellowship, and act as an ambassador for the University in other areas of their lives.
