This weekend the fra branch 264 in meridian, is hosting a local fundraiser.
Bar manager Ricky Nelson says, “For us to raise some money for doing our projects. Which is SA scholarship for grade 7-12. We also give money to the fire department, sailor of the year, rotc student of the year. And we have to have money for this.”
FRA is short for fleet reserve association. Which is navy, marine, and coast guard and people that ride on ships. The fundraiser will be held here at the lodge off hwy 39. And to raise money there will be plenty of food, fun and local entertainment.
“This weekend we are having a barbecue. We are selling plates Saturday and Sunday starting at 12 o’clock until we run out. We’re gonna have your choice of either pulled port or BBQ chicken. And your choice of 3 sides out of 6. And the ladies of the fleet are putting together a bake sale so we are gonna have tons of goodies.”
And there will also be plenty of outside activities as well.
“We are gonna have live music from Karma. And we are gonna have cornhole and all sorts of outside activities. So, It’s gonna be a fun day.”
With a cost of only $8 a person, everyone is invited to spend this weekend with veterans.
