Meridian woman arrested for drug importation

A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of a Meridian woman this week for importing illegal drugs.
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents arrested 44-year-old Lara Collins Beddingfield when she accepted a package from the postal service that contained a foreign opiate, according to MBN director John Dowdy.
Agents with the Bureau seized approximately 500 dosage units of the foreign version of the opiate officials said.
Beddingfield faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
She has been transported to the Lauderdale county detention facility with a bond set at 10-thousand dollars.
