New solar plant coming to Lauderdale co.

A new 53-megawatt solar facility could bring hundreds of construction jobs to Lauderdale county.

The public service commission voted unanimously in favor of that solar plant for Mississippi Power and silicon ranch.

The million facility will generate enough electricity to power about 8,000 homes.

The facility will be located off highway 45 near Knox road.
