Early Monday shooting in Newton co.

An investigation is underway into an early morning shooting in the Lawrence, Miss.

Newton county sheriff Jackie Knight says a woman suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment.

At this time authorities are not releasing official information about a possible suspect, and so far, no charges have been filed in the case.
