The Community Foundation of East Mississippi handed out quite a few checks Tuesday.
“Today we had a very exciting day where we awarded various grants that we have through endowments that various people in the community have set up,” said Community Executive Director Becky Glover.
The community foundation gave away over $5,000 in grants, including the Lucky’s Legacy Grant, which went to organizations involved in the welfare and safe-keeping of animals. Other grants included the Charles L. Young Sr. Grant, which supports the preservation of historic African American facilities. The community foundation is now finished with the competitive grant process for 2017. It will start accepting applications for its next competitive grant process in January. During that process, the community foundation will award grants that pertain to education and the arts.
