Benefit Bass Fishing Tournament

The water is calm, and the fish are definitely biting, at Okatibbie lake, and come Saturday morning there will be a bass fishing tournament hosted by sports ministries.

Danny Todd of Sports Ministries says, “The way sports ministries is set up, we have different people that put us in contact with other people who actually need us. We use that as a way for the good Lord to put us where he wants us. And once we heard little Leighton’s story, we fell in love with her and her family, and we really just wanted to use this as an avenue to help them achieve what they are looking for.”

Leighton's father Brian Driskill says “She was born with a heart defect, and had to have open heart surgery when she was 10 months old. So now she has a mechanical heart valve and a pacemaker. And, she has weekly blood tests for her blood thinners to make sure that they are in order and just a lot of stuff for her to do but they are small hurdles for her to grow into as she is older.”

Registration is $100 per boat, and it’s a 2 man boat. If you have someone 16 years or younger you can have a 3 man boat. But, if you can't make it to the tournament, and just want to donate, you can contact sports ministries.

"We take up checks and donations. We will get it to them. All you have to do is put memo Leighton Driskill in the check, and we’ll make sure she gets it."
