Marion Shriners host 5k fundraiser

The Marion Shrine Club is calling all runners to be a part of their 5k fundraiser.
“The Shriners would like to welcome you to Marion. To the inaugural Marion, Shrine Club 5k run, " said Richard Whitehead the Hamasa Recorder. “We will start registration at 7:30 that morning. The race will start at 9am. And we will finish after the last runner crosses the finish line. So, if you are a runner and you keep track of your time and you need an official time keeper. We will have time to run, sponsoring the run, which will be doing the actual timing of the run to make sure you have the official time.”
The runners will go north on HWY 45, loop around, run along the train tracks and finish back, in the parking lot. He goes on to say the the run will bring community awareness, that the shrine club is still local.
“From moving from the Temple Theater to here, which wasn’t but about 500 yards outside the city limits of Meridian, people have forgotten about Hamasa Shriners. So, the Marion Shrine Club which used to be the Meridian Shrine club, decided let’s do something to get the community involved.”
