Willie Nelson in concert last night at MSU Riley Center

Mississippi is the birthplace of America’s music, and Meridian is the birthplace of country music with Jimmie Rodgers. So, it's only fitting for a country music legend like Willie Nelson to stop by for a local performance.

“This is the first time that we’ve had Willie Nelson right here at the Riley Center. So, people have been asking for him for years and we’ve finally got him,” said Derron Radcliff the Riley Center box office manager. He continues to say, “One thing with Willie Nelson if it has shown us anything, it has shown us that country music is big and legends are big in Meridian. The show is sold out, and it’s probably the most popular show we have had to date.”

It’s a well-known fact that Meridianites love country music, and will show their support, when a superstar comes to town.

“But it’s not often you get to see a country legend right here in the back steps of Meridian, Mississippi. So, people are going to be in for a treat tonight.”

And if you didn’t get a ticket for this sold out show, there is another big act coming to town.

“In a couple of days, a couple of weeks we have the Brothers Osborne. Legendary Brothers Osborne will be coming to the MSU Riley Center. We found out and interesting fact today. His drummer is actually from Meridian. So that’s going to of coarse draw a big crowd. Then we’ve got the R&B legend Gladys Knight that will be coming to our theater in January of 2018."
