Assistant district attorney Lisa Howell has spent over 23 years trying cases in Lauderdale, Clarke, Kemper, and Wayne Counties. Now, she’ll be upholding the law as a judge in drug and youth courts. Monday, Governor Phil Bryant announced that Howell will succeed Lauderdale County 10th Circuit Court Judge Frank Coleman, who will retire later this month. In the new position, Howell says she plans to implement a youth drug court for offenders and focus on truancy cases. She will serve November 1st until a special election in November 2018.
