Kemper-Neshoba Facility Raided

A raid at the Kemper-Neshoba county correctional facility in Dekalb uncovered a plethora of contraband.

Authorities say that Wednesday morning, inmates were awakened by officers rummaging through their belongings and lifting mattresses in search for illegal items. Officers uncovered 58 small packs of marijuana and spice, 17 pills, 66 bags of tobacco, 25 cellphones, 18 chargers, five batteries, and five pairs of earbuds. Also, a large amount of canteen items were confiscated from one inmate for their possible use for extortion.

Operation zero tolerance started in March to stop the flow of contraband in the prison system for the safety of staff and inmates.
