Candy Cane 5K Dash

“Children need to be challenged through academics, but they also learn through play and exercise,” says organizer Beth Capone-Slutz.

St. Patrick School is hosting their first annual Candy Cane 5K Dash. This race is designed to help promote what the school not only wants their students to be involved in, but the community as well.

“We’re really excited about it, it’s our first annual. It’s a fundraiser for the school, but not only is it a fundraiser for the school, we wanted to promote health and wellness; we wanted to give back to the community,” says Capone-Slutz.

While the 5K run and walk will begin here at St. Patrick School, most of the route will be downtown, and festive costumes are encouraged.

“We’ve had a lot of help from a lot of volunteers at the school, the catholic community, and the students I think are really excited about it too. So, we do have a group of four of us that have been organizing it and working really hard and learning lots. We’re really excited about it.”

People can still register for the Candy Cane 5K Dash at time2run.net or in person Saturday morning at 7:15am at St. Patrick School.
