Councilwoman calling on community for help with Meridian Public School District
Councilwoman Ward 4 Kim Houston raised concerns at the city council meeting yesterday about Meridian Public School District's latest test scores. She discussed how teachers only have access to the students in the classroom and that more needs to be done outside of the classroom.
"We're calling on the community to get more involved. Be a mentor, show up and volunteer, bring cookies, be the neighborhood safe house, provide a safe place, even if it's for two or three students. If you have the skills, if you have the knowledge, and if you have the time, we're asking the community- lets come together to help Meridian Public School District be all that she can be," says Houston.
