Coats for Kids
It’s Christmas time, it’s cold, and children are in need of coats. The Knights of Columbus Council 802 just wrapped up their annual Coats for Kids project for the East Mississippi Boys and Girls Club. Donations have been collected since Thanksgiving.
“Our council has been doing Coats of Kids for eight years. This is our third year of partnering with Boys and Girls Club. Knights of Columbus sponsors our local councils from an international level. So, we’re doing this all over the world; local councils doing Coats for Kids projects.”
“Now out of the eighty coats donated here to the Boys and Girls Club, seventy-five of the eighty are actually brand new.” -William Nix, Knights of Columbus
Nix says with the majority of the coats being brand new, the kids are sure to feel happy in the fact that they get something to call truly their own.
“This is important to me personally because when you get a kid a good coat to keep warm, they’re going to be able to do better in school; they’re going to be able to get outside and play,” says Nix.
Nix and Knights of Columbus Council 802 wish to send a warm thank-you to the community for helping out with this project.
