Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America held it’s annual veterans recognition event, at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton.

“The event is in honor of our veterans. It’s the laying of the wreaths annually, on the graves that are out here,” says general Mike Nabors chief of staff air national guard.

The purpose to honor, teach and remember, those that allowed us to have our freedoms, over the holidays.

He goes on to says, “The symbolism is simply that we honor the live that they lead, and the sacrifice that they made, not their death, not to decorate their graves, but to honor their lives.”

It was an amazing turnout, to honor those fallen soldiers, “And we’ve got so many folks that showed up this cold morning, to just pay honor to all our veterans for all the sacrifices that they made over the years.”

And it’s important to have a place to show respect, for those who gave so much, for our freedoms.

“This cemetery provides a place for that, for those veterans to be laid to rest for all eternity. For future generations to come out, to look at the names, on the headstones, say the names, and honor them for what they have sacrificed.”
