Madagascar at Meridian Little Theatre

The Meridian Little Theatre is trading the holiday shows for a different atmosphere, now that the new year is here. Madagascar is the next play to be performed and is in the preparation stages.

“My favorite part is watching kids have such a great time with the songs. There’s particular songs that are really energetic. The one that everybody will remember from the movie is I Like to Move It. King Julian orchestrates all of that. It’s just so much fun to watch them having that much fun on stage,” Ellie Massey, Executive Artistic Director, said.

This is actually a "Madagascar Jr." production. The entire cast is anywhere from 1st grade to 12th grade high school seniors.

“As I said, it’s a fully integrated musical where they have to act, sing, and dance. We had not had that previously in the last few years. So, we’d have the action and acting and things, then we’d have dance groups come on and do their dance. Then we’d come back on and pick up the action from there. This is, as I said, fully integrated like a regular musical you would see on any other stage,” Massey said.

Madagascar Junior will be performed on January 11th and 12th at 6:30pm. To order tickets go to meridianlittletheatre.com or call 601- 482-6371.
