Kemper County Facility Inmate Death
Kemper County authorities are investigating an inmate death, in their Correctional Facility.

51 year-old Robert Johnson, was found dead inside an observation room at the Kemper-Neshoba Regional Correctional Facility just after 10pm on Tuesday. Kemper county sheriff james Moore says that Johnson’s cause of death was a strangulation by a shoestring. Earlier that evening, jailers responded to an altercation with inmates involving Johnson, and later, he was threatening to harm himself. After he was found, staff was unable to revive Johnson. Sheriff Moore says that safety is a top priority at the jail, and more money from the state is needed to help those in need of mental health.
