Meridian reports minimal issues in frigid temperatures... Clarke county fairs differently

After the first snowflakes began to fall this past Tuesday, newly appointed public safety director Doug Stevens says he had a busy first day on the job.

Meridian and Lauderdale county reported minimal icing issues on streets and bridges.

However, Clarke county dealt with ice on most bridges that resulted in multiple car accidents throughout the county according to Emergency Management director Eddie Ivy.

Both emergency officials ask that the public exercise extreme caution even today as temperatures are still in the freezing levels.
