Active Shooter Safety in Area Schools
“You don’t wait for something occurs, to take action, you prepare for the worst and always hope for the best," says Tim Moore the Principal at Northeast Lauderdale High School. Members of the administrative staff add they are making sure that their students will be safe in the time of a crisis.

He says, “We believe in being proactive. And Proactive in the concept that we’ve got a security plan in place. We practice those procedures so that we can do what needs to be done to take care of our kids and make sure that they are safe.”
Upon entering the campus at Northeast Lauderdale High School, everyone must first check in to administrative offices, to make sure that if you enter this campus, you will be accounted for. And incase of an emergency, the campus will be locked down to ensure the safety of all students.
“We keep our gates closed. We limit the access to the campus. And that’s one way we can help monitor what is taking place.”
They also keep a school resource officer on location.
“Who is very diligent about getting out and patrolling. Making sure that things are as they need to be and should be.
In an effort to keep our students safe. “It’s just a concept of being aware, being diligent, being vigilant and being where they need to be, when they are supposed to be.”
