Mardi Gras parade in Meridian postponed, rescheduled for February 17

February 8, 2018 – Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the City of Meridian has announced that the Meridian Mardi Gras Celebration and parades have been rescheduled for Saturday, February 17th. The Event will be held on City Hall Lawn from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The “Meridian Mardi Gras After Party” will kick off on Saturday food vendors, craft and merchandise vendors, live music from Rodrick Fox and the Trio and Aa’Keela and the Beats, the area’s largest Mardi Gras store, and kids’ activities including bouncy houses and more! The free, day-long event, which is sponsored by the City of Meridian, provides family-friendly activities for all ages. “We decided to move the date for this year’s Mardi Gras Celebration because we wanted our community to be able to experience all the fun this annual event brings to our community,” says Laura Carmichael, City of Meridian Community Development Director. “We have so many great activities planned and we hope everyone will come out and enjoy the parades, great food, and music in downtown Meridian.” At noon, the Krewe of Barkus Parade, sponsored by Animal Medical Supply, features fury friends all dressed up in purple and green. The Mardi Gras king and queen will lead the Krewe of Midas Parade immediately following the pet parade. Festive Mardi Gras t-shirts will be available at the Mardi Gras store for $15 for short sleeve and $20 for long sleeve. Live music, as well as a beer garden sponsored by Mitchell Distributing, will also highlight the day. Other sponsors for the event include Mitchell Companies, Structural Steel, SeQuel, and Waste Pro.
