EMBDC holds ribbon cutting for Families First
A new program has come to 8th street in Meridian in order to focus on the whole family. Families First of Mississippi is a non-profit program that provides services such as classes for parents in order to give them more tools to use in parenting, job skills, life skills, and an online diploma program, and it’s all free of charge. To qualify for any of these services, all someone has to do is walk through their doors and let them know what services they need or either they will assess someone to see what services they may need. In addition to all of that, they also have a career closet in which individuals can pick out clothes for a job interview. This Families First serves a five-county area including Lauderdale, Clarke, keeper, east and west Jasper, and Newton counties.

“I think it’s a good fit because these services will impact our families and our students and our community as a whole. With stronger citizens, stronger parents, stronger people; we’ll have a great city and that’s what we want.” -Gretchen Luvene, Center Coord., Meridian office
Families First has been around for twenty years, with this office in opening in Meridian being the first one to ever open in this region.
