Chunky River clean up
The Chunky River in Chunky, Mississippi has a chunk of events happening around it in the next coming weeks. The East Mississippi Foothills Land Trust is having their annual Chunky River Clean-Up on June 15th from 8am to 1pm.

“Well, I’m super appreciative of the EMFLT because they let me be their summer intern, but I’m also a biology student, so it’s really important to me, anything for conservation’s sake.” -Livi Harrison, summer intern for EMFLT
The purpose of the clean-up is to get the community involved in conservation within their local areas.

They will be at the Chunky River Raft Race that is happening this Saturday. They’ll be there with a booth and hopefully pick up more volunteers.
The clean-up volunteers will be split into 3 different groups that will have 3 different starting and finishing areas. Those who volunteer will also get a free lunch from Chunky Shoals Fish Camp.
“Well, first of all, it’s just ecologically important, but then also any rivers or lakes around here we want to keep beautified. You want the rivers you fish in, swim in, and play in to be clean so it’s really important.” -Harrison
Door prizes will be given, so donations are encouraged.
