Mississippi Blood Services visits Mitchell Distributing warehouse

Mississippi Blood Services made their way to the Mitchell Distributing warehouse for the second time ever today. Not only did donors get a free t-shirt, but anyone who donates with them during the summer, has a chance to win some money.

“Mississippi Blood Services has some great partners here in Mississippi, and we have a special promotion called Save Our Summer where we’re going to be giving away $1,000 to a lucky donor every week during the summer months.” Said J.W. Chapman, marketing rep., MS Blood Services

While the heat of the summer is kicking in, Mississippi Blood Services wants to remind people that it’s still important to make time, to donate.

“As we enter the summer, we’ve got people going on vacations and of course schools are out, it’s hot outside and people want to stay inside and don’t want to come out. Unfortunately, those surgeries don’t stop, people are still getting sick and still needing blood transfusions, and accidents still happen. So, during the summer months donations tend to die down a little bit.” Chapman said.

“It has become an extremely well received and extremely valuable benefit to those people.”

Here at Mitchell Distributing, there is also a special fundraiser going on. T-shirts are currently being sold for the Anheuser-Bush created program called Folds of Honor.

“There is no government assistance really for providing higher education for children of deceased veterans. Anheuser-Busch being an American-grown company started this program a number of years ago as a way to honor our veterans and to provide benefits to their families that were not being provided otherwise.” Said Landry Adkins, director of human resources of Mitchell Companies.
