Eddie Kelly retiring from Mississippi Power

Yesterday at the MAX, the city of Meridian honored Eddie Kelly who is retiring from his division manager position at Mississippi Power. Kelly has an extensive career and has been a lobbyist, an accountant, and is also a Marine Corps veteran.

“I feel great. I’ve come full circle. This company, Southern Company, has been great to me, it’s been great to my family, it’s supported my family while I was aboard. I couldn’t have asked for a better career. I can’t think of a better place to end my career than right here in Meridian.”

In reflecting on his career at Mississippi Power, Kelly emphasizes on the bond the company has with the community it serves.

“One of the things that Mississippi Power does a great job at is we go in and we look at the needs of the community, and we try to find ways we can fit in and help those communities to figure out how to get to the best out of what they have to offer.”

Michael Harvey, who is currently the manager of the Pine Belt Division of Mississippi Power will assume his position. Kelly plans on retiring to Bay St. Louis where he plans to build a home. He says he fell in love with the area around five years ago while visiting, but he says he will miss the Meridian area and the Mississippi Power Company greatly.

“The thing that I’m going to miss most about Mississippi Power Company are the people. You create and you develop some very strong relationships and networks. It’s just like family. Here in the community I’ve developed very strong relationships with people. Community leaders, elected officials, business leaders—and they’re more than just business, it’s personal.”

His official last day is on July 27th
