Tax Weekend is near and business prepare.
The start of a brand new school year is nearly here. Each year families go school supply shopping. This upcoming weekend is the perfect time to shop because it's tax-free weekend meaning people won't pay sales tax on certain items deemed as school related .
“ A lot of places particularly the liberty shop, they will have bundles and deals that you can get for your back to school clothing that your kids need to wear for their school uniforms and so there’s always that opportunity to find a deal and save a little bit of money of your taxes.”

East Mississippi Business Development activity director Casey Holladay says there are a lot of local deals to look out for and those local purchases help the economy.
“ Anytime you purchase your items here in Meridian and Lauderdale County, it’s going straight for the people in this community, so it’s a great way to get the things that you need but also support people you know, people who you go to church with, people who you go to school with, and so, it’s so important that we shop local and stay here and purchase our items.”
Local Dillard's store manager Jayne Vannatter says her staff is prepared for this tax-free holiday and is expecting a good experience for everyone coming to shop for back to school items.
“ We have all of our employees on board this weekend; it will be fully staffed we’re open from 10 till 9, just making sure that we are providing the exceptional customer service that we provide every day.”
