Habitat for Humanity's third annual silent auction

Women in the area can take an afternoon for themselves with Lauderdale county's Habitat for Humanity hosting its third annual High Tea and Silent Auction. The event is Saturday, August 11th from 2pm to 4 pm at the Northcrest Baptist Church multipurpose building. Women who attend are encouraged to wear pretty hats, and they will be able to sip tea, eat fine food, and have fellowship with their fellow neighbor.

For the silent auction, Habitat for Humanity gets different businesses within the community to donate items people might be interested in buying. Funds raised will go to projects being done by Habitat for Humanity.

“Without private donations, we wouldn’t exist. We don’t get any government funding or any backing from the government. We strictly run on church and individual donations or corporations or trusts. We have several trusts that support us. It’s very important that the community back us because, if they don’t, then we possibly wouldn’t exist because we wouldn’t have enough funding,” says Habitat for Humanity Community Coordinator, Jane Collins

Each ticket is $25 or a whole table can be purchased for $200. If women would like to bring their own fine china to sip tea from, they are encouraged to do so.
