Mississippi Arts Entertainment Experience held 2nd Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Saturday marked the second induction ceremony at the Mississippi Arts Entertainment Experience since the grand opening back in April.

Five big names such as William Eggleston, Willie Morris, Howling Wolf, Jimmie Buffett and Charley Pride were new honorees all inducted into the hall of fame at the MAEX and staff with the museum say there will be more to come.

“I think one of the things that we’ve enjoyed the most was the induction ceremony itself followed by the unveiling of their portraits in the hall of fame and then we had a special treat with Charlie Pride singing that song for us, we didn’t expect.”

President of Mississippi Arts Entertainment Experience Mark Tullos says having the hall of fame inductions at the MAEX is an important step to create an ever-growing experience.

“The inductions are very important for keeping the hall of fame current, and we want to also bring up new artists to Meridian and to Mississippi to come back and pay tribute to them, so it’s really important that we keep these current every year or every two years.”

Country music legend Charley Pride who is a hall of fame honoree says he is impressed with the museum.

“Wonderful to have something like this, putting a star walk of fame out there on the street with all of these other recipients and everything this place is what got me. I couldn’t believe what they have in here, it’s wonderful.”
