Promoters prepare for this year's annual Blues Festival at QV Sykes.

Saturday Mississippi will get a taste of some true musical talent as blues artist make their way through Meridian.

The annual QV Sykes Blues Festival has raised money to benefit the Boys and Girls Club and local charities for the past several years.

“The Blues festival started three years ago; we did it for just the community event for starters then actually people wanted more, so we came back last year the second year and this year is our third year.”

Blues Fest promoter David Loyd says with Mississippi being the birthplace of music he thinks it’s important to have this festival each year in Meridian.

“It plays a beautiful part because a lot of people around here actually listen to the blues and it’s originally for the soul, so we want to continue to bring that here for all to enjoy.”

Loyd also says with many artists performing there will be plenty for people to enjoy.

“We have a national artist; we have EL Jay Echols out of Dallas Texas, we have David Bristol, we have Ms. Jody, we have Chris Ivy.”

Not only will people see a good show, but they will also help a good cause.

“Some of the proceeds will go to the Boys & Girls Club which is a great cause, so not so much them we’ll give away to other charity events.”
