Meridian to get food service app
Launching in Meridian on September 20th, the Waitr App will allow those at their work or home to be able to order some local grub.
“We’re signed up, and we’re excited about it. We’re looking forward to when it starts. It’s a way for us to get our product out to people, who, for whatever reason, they don’t have the time or the transportation to get down here and eat. So, we can have it brought to them.”

There is a five-dollar flat-rate fee on all orders, and customers can pay and tip their driver on the app.
“I’m really excited about it. For one, for us personally, it really gives us a platform to move a lot of to-go food that we normally wouldn’t be able to just with the volume that we do with lunch and dinner.”
With the amount of hotels and travelers that Meridian has, local restaurant owners are excited to be able to serve that demographic, as well.

“Really, it’s a way for us to get our food out to hospitals or hotels. We get a lot of travelers through here, we’ve got a lot of hotel rooms here. I think a lot of people don’t necessarily want to get out and drive after they’ve been driving all day. To have the food brought to them is great. As far as the next step in Meridian, I think it just makes us a stronger economy.”
“I think it would definitely help travelers. Once you get to a hotel you’re kind of set for the night, at least I am with two kids. So, it really helps get people to the next level of food service and delivery.”
The app will be looking to hire part-time drivers. Those interested can apply on their website or app. To see a list of local restaurants participating, visit www.waitrapp.com.
