EMEPA has crews on stand-by for Hurricane Florence

Due to Hurricane Florence already touching down on the North Carolina coast, our East Mississippi Electric Power Association has crews on stand-by to go to the east coast. The EMEPA is working through their state-wide association, which is the Electric Cooperatives of Mississippi, on stand-by. If their crews are needed, they will be sent out this weekend or early next week. The crews that are on stand-by include two engineering teams, four line crews, two right-of -way crews, two serviceman crews, and two mechanic crews, which comes to over 30 employees total.

Julie Boles, the Director of Marketing & Communication for EMEPA, says, "we know that if we were in this boat, we would have crews coming to our assistance. During Hurricane Katrina we had crews from as far away as north Minnesota, Michigan, areas that far. So, we are willing to go wherever we are needed to provide that assistance."

Boles says crews will or will not be sent to help depending on the path of the hurricane, where it hits, the intensity, and how widespread the damage is.
