Planet Playground set to be torn down this Friday in preparation of Jeannie's Place
This Friday, the City of Meridian will begin tearing down the almost twenty-year-old Planet Playground to begin building a new playground called Jeannie’s Place.
“Planet Playground was a park that was built a number of years ago by participation and volunteers of the community. It has been a central place for a lot of families, again, for those very young years for children that have spent a lot time out there. My family spent a lot of time out there when my kids were small.” -Mayor Percy Bland

This new playground will be inclusive to children with special needs. Every piece of equipment will be wheelchair accessible, and there will also be slide that children with certain hearing aid implants will be able to use.

“This playground will allow every child, no matter disability or not, to be able to enjoy a fun environment on Jeannie’s playground on the old Planet Playground. We’re very excited about that, and we’ve been waiting for a long time for this day to come.” -Mayor Bland
The teardown will take place from 8am until 5pm. Volunteers are needed and can simply show up to help. Jeannie's Place is set to open by February of next year.
