Home Instead Senior Care putting on Christmas program for the elderly
The Home Instead Senior Care office here in Meridian is offering a way for the community to give back to the elderly during the holidays.
“You come in, you take an ornament from our tree, and the needs are on the back. Then, you can return that to our office unwrapped. We’re going to have a wrapping party, and we’re going to get all of these wrapped and returned back to the agencies that have given us these names,” says home care consultant Julie Webb.

The Home Instead franchise, which was created two years ago, is putting on this Be A Santa To A Senior program for the first time.

Franchise owner Charissa Shirley says, “we contour each person’s home according to where they are in life. Where they are in life could be a hospital room, it could be a nursing home, it could be assisted living, or it could even be at home with a child. So, we look at the senior, we try to match what works best for them and with a budget they have and give them the quality service they need.”

These services can include transportation, personal care, and housekeeping.
“We’ve really seen where seniors are left out and, a lot of times, forgotten. We have a lot of seniors in our community that are just financially unable to do very much,” says Webb.
The deadline to turn in items for the Be A Santa To A Senior program is December 14th. For more information, visit their website at www.homeinstead.com, check out their Facebook page under Home Instead Senior Care Meridian, MS, or call their office at 601-286-3242.
