Meridian's first baby of the new year born at Rush
One local family is bringing in the new year, with a new baby. Born on January 1st at 9:21 am, little Charlie, who was born to Dot Stringer and Chuck Bracken, was Meridian's first baby of the new year.

Stringer’s original due date was on January 10th, but after a visit to Rush on the 31st to see how she had progressed, the hospital decided to keep her overnight and induce. Baby Charlie weighed seven pounds and nine ounces and is twenty inches long.

“It was perfect. The nurses here were amazing. It was really great, and they were really great. They helped me through it a lot, because I thought I was going to have to do it without an epidural because we got really close, but he came fast and it was really amazing,” said Stringer.

Stringer is originally from Brookhaven, MS, and her fiance, Bracken, was born and raised here in Meridian. They have three other children at home.
