New judge gets sworn in at Lauderdale County Court House.

In Lauderdale County, a new judge is taking the stand. Retiring Judge Jerry Mason swore In Judge Charlie Smith at 9 a.m. Wednesday inside the Lauderdale County Court House.

Smith is now the Chancery Court Judge for Lauderdale And Clarke Counties. He graduated from Jackson School of Law at Mississippi College. Smith has been practicing law and says he’s looking forward to serving his new role as Chancery Court Judge.

Smith will handle cases pertaining to family law.
